DONATE THROUGH IAHV, KENYA

International Association for Human Values (IAHV)

IAHV supports Children's Garden Home with volunteers, personal development courses, food donation, network for broad ranging assistance as well as acceptance and management of donation/child sponsorship funds.

IAHV is a registered NGO in Kenya. IAHV is a sister organisation of the Art of Living (AOL) which has presence in 155 countries including South Africa, The Netherlands, USA, Singapore, etc.

The Art of Living (AOL) Foundation, headquartered in Bangalore, India, is a multi-faceted, volunteer-based, not-for-profit, spiritual, educational and humanitarian NGO. AOL engages in diverse spiritual and social initiatives aimed at uplifting humanity by promoting peace, development and well-being at the level of individuals, communities, nations and the world. AOL is a non-religious, secular organisation. Its aim is to provide spiritual as well as practical everyday support to deprived communities to help improve their overall quality of life within a paradigm of environmental sustainability.

AOL works in a special consultative status with the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) of the United Nations, participating in a variety of committees and activities relating to health, education, sustainable development, and conflict resolution.

IAHV(AOL), Kenya and Children's Garden Home

Whilst affiliated to the global AOL Foundation, any AOL project that is undertaken in Nairobi or other parts of Kenya is initiated, planned, executed and managed by the local organisation independently of its parent organisation. AOL, Kenya is a non-profit organisation and all members volunteer their time.

AOL, Kenya’s activities can be divided into two primary areas. First, recognising the high levels of stress that exists among the hundreds of thousands of people crowded together in different slums in Kenya, also in the highly crowded prisons, AOL runs courses in enhancing life-values, focussed one role of meditation and yoga in helping people to come to terms with and better handle their anxieties and fears. Through these courses they are able to overcome addictions to drugs, alcohol and other harmful substances. Breathing and meditation techniques help them to overcome their sense of worthlessness and to become more wholesome and empowered human beings.

Second, AOL promotes and runs sustainable projects to help improve socio-economic conditions in slum communities. For example, a few years ago it had set up an internet cafe in Huruma which has now become self-supporting.

AOL Kenya is installing a community cooker at the Children’s Garden Home (CGH) in the Kawangware slum to make a substantial contribution to addressing the waste disposal problem as well as initiate income-generating activities while addressing the sanitation needs of the residents. This is a joint project between AOL and Children’s Garden home. Also AOL has been supporting CGH in other activities and trying to see how best it can be self-sustainable and also empowering the children with skills in handling stress and entrepreneurship for self-reliance through the social enterprise projects under www.LittleFingys.com.

For child sponsorship or general donation to Children's Garden Home, you may transfer the funds directly to IAHV bank account from within Kenya or any country in the world. Kindly notify us in advance through email: contactus@childrensgardenhome.org.

Alessandra Bruni & Friends from Italy

Alessandra Bruni

"My husband and I first came to Children's Garden Home in April 2011 to adopt 10 year old Diana as our child. We were tremendously moved by the loving effort of Moses and his team in caring for and educating so many children of disadvantaged background. So we wrote to our friends back home in Italy and many of them stepped forward to offer financial support. With their contribution, we funded the setting up of a Posho Mill at the home. In addition to domestic usage, the mill is also able to generate an income for the home by providing milling service to the local community. We are extremely grateful to Children's Garden Home for raising Diana and for giving us an opportunity to support the rest of the children."
